Having never listened to Isis, but being a prog fan, I really liked the progressiveness of the album. There was a stark contrast between the distorted guitars and clean, reverb-y guitars, but then there are also mixes of them, and it's hard to distinguish what is going on.

Zero seems to have a "jamming in the studio" feel to it, and besides the fantastic lead guitar, there's also saxophone and flute playing prominent roles. No Frills, being their 2nd release, has more matured songwriting (though the rare vocals have a zany edge, like Monty Python got involved!). It's just guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards on 5/5(1).

"Cocaine Elaine" has a bluesy New Orleans feel with wonderful backing vocals, but the musical genres jump so much it feels like a movie soundtrack. 's follow-up album was produced by Allen Toussaint and featured June Millington from another significant pioneering all-girl group, Fanny, but sadly, this Isis only put out two albums.
